‘The Iron Man’ Prepares For New Martial Arts Discipline

ONE Championship - May 29, 2020

ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World
Champion Rodtang
“The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon
is eager to challenge himself in a new sport.

The athlete has been one of the
most dominant strikers in ONE Championship, but it now seems that he has his
heart on an entirely new game.

“I got the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai
World Championship already, so my next goal is to challenge for the kickboxing
belt [against Ennahachi],” he said.

“I used to fight in this kind of
sport already. After that, I would like to try mixed martial arts.”

Just like his girlfriend Stamp Fairtex, Rodtang
does not fear uncharted waters. After all, the Jitmuangnon Gym representative
has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts, even heading over
to the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand to improve his all-around

Besides training with Stamp and
Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga, he has shared the mats with other
world-class mixed martial artists from the gym, and that has given him some
form of moral support should he grace the Circle in mixed martial arts.

“I have the Muay Thai base
already, so I just have to add the ground game. I have walked the path of being
a fighter for a long time, so this isn’t bad for me. Also, I want to prove
myself. I want to know how far I can go,” the ONE athlete said.

Currently, there are not any plans
for “The Iron Man” to make his debut. However, that could change soon,
especially if he keeps up his winning ways in Muay Thai.

Even if either plan does not fall
through, he wants to prove a point in the Circle during his next appearance.
Rodtang believes a match against ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Ilias “Tweety” Ennahachi
would be the perfect encounter for him.

“My first goal after I defeated
Haggerty in our rematch was to challenge Ennahachi for the kickboxing title
next,” he said.

“I really want that belt. I would
love to have World Titles in two sports in ONE Championship, just like what
Stamp did.”
