This Friday, 8 November at ONE: MASTERS OF FATE, Stamp Fairtex puts her quest for mixed martial arts glory to the test.
The ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion faces Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen in an atomweight mixed martial arts clash at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
Stamp thrilled her home crowd in Bangkok, Thailand with a third-round armbar to hand Roka her first professional loss.
“I was 100-percent ready for my last fight, and I really felt like I won over the hearts of the viewers with my performance,” she said.
The Rayong native will now face an opponent far more experienced than her on the ground – Nguyen has nine mixed martial arts bouts compared to her two.
Stamp expects “Killer Bee” to come in stinging, but she is confident she can continue her strong form and stay undefeated.
“This fight will definitely be harder than my last because my opponent is better and stronger than the last person I faced,” the Fairtex representative said.
“I am happy about this, though, because I think it will let me show my potential better than before.”
The 21-year-old from Pattaya has competed in more than 80 bouts under kickboxing and Muay Thai rules, but she believes she will not be disadvantaged by her lack of mixed martial arts experience.
“I think I can beat her, but I will only determine the way I’m going to win once I’m inside the cage,” she said.
“[In] this fight you are going to see a lot more stand-up. Both my opponent and I come from Muay Thai backgrounds – it is going to be exciting.”
Just like in her previous two contests, the Fairtex athlete is ready to trade with her rival in close quarters.
“She’s really tough and will be walking forward the whole fight. I am going to try to stand my ground and not back up,” Stamp said.
“Fans can expect a really exciting performance from me. I am ready to trade and want to make this as fun as possible.”
If she gets the win, the two-sport World Champion could move a step closer to her goal of getting a crack at the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title.
“It is my dream and my goal to become a three-sport World Champion with ONE Championship,” she said.
“It isn’t going to be easy – not at all. I’m going to have to continue to defend my other two belts while trying to contend for a third, but I will try my very best.”
