On Friday, 25 October, ONE: DAWN OF VALOR delivered an exciting night of martial arts action for fans inside the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
A handful of local heroes and international stars thrilled the crowd with electrifying performances, and a pair of World Title bouts dazzled the main and co-main events.
Here are three of the most memorable bouts from Friday’s incredible action.
A New Welterweight King Is Crowned
Kiamrian “Brazen” Abbasov notched the biggest win of his career at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR.
The Kyrgyz hero took Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam deep into five rounds and claimed the ONE Welterweight World Title with a unanimous decision victory.
In the opening two rounds, Abbasov’s ground game kept Kadestam on the defensive, and the frustrated Swede struggled to find an answer.
“Brazen” executed a well-timed belly-to-back suplex in the third frame and spent most of the time in top control as he chipped away at his foe with short strikes.
Kadestam’s energy waned in the fourth frame, and Abbasov hit another takedown and unleashed painful knees to the sides of his Swedish rival.
In the fifth, despite Kadestam’s best efforts, he could not muster up the strength for a last-ditch knockout finish.
Impressed by his grappling and boxing savvy, the judges awarded Abbasov the unanimous decision win.
“The Immortal” Proves He Is The Best Lightweight Kickboxer
Regian “The Immortal” Eersel defeated rival and legendary compatriot Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, leaving no doubt he is the best lightweight kickboxer in ONE Super Series.
The ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion out-worked the Dutch icon over five rounds to earn the unanimous decision win and retain his World Title.
Eersel threw weight behind his punches to open the first round, constantly pressuring Holzken with an array of combinations.
He dropped “The Natural” with a crisp left cross, but Holzken responded strongly with a few punches and kicks to close out the first round.
“The Immortal” continued to chain together strikes with punches and knees while “The Natural” took aim with power punches in search of the knockout.
Eersel began to dominate the later rounds with significant strikes. His jabs and kicks often found their mark and made it difficult for Holzken to mount a proper offense.
The Sityodtong Amsterdam’s beautiful display of kickboxing impressed the judges and earned him the unanimous decision victory.
John Lineker’s Impressive Debut
Fans were treated to John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker’s hard-hitting debut at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR.
The Brazilian used his fists to dominate Muin “Tajik” Gafurov over three rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Lineker’s power took Gafurov by surprise as the Tajikistan native stumbled from an early low kick.
Despite Gafurov’s counters with spinning hook kicks, the American Top Team representative dialed up the pressure and connected with several strong punches and body kicks.
Gafurov attempted a takedown in the second round, only to be denied by “Hands Of Stone,” whose low stance let him grab his opponent’s neck and lock in a guillotine choke.
“Tajik” escaped from the hold, but Lineker continued to frustrate him with constant pressure.
The Jungle Fight Bantamweight Champion let loose with his fists and kept Gafurov on the back foot. This continued into the third frame as Lineker was able to stuff Gafurov’s takedowns and respond with volumes of strikes.
After three dominant rounds, Lineker got his hand raised at the Istora Senayan with the unanimous decision win.
