ONE: CENTURY is the biggest World Championship martial arts event in history. Twenty-eight World Champions will take part in this historic double-header.
With some of the world’s best submission specialists among them, fans can expect to see the greatest collection of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, judo, and wrestling talent on the planet.
Ahead of this incredible show set for Sunday, 13 October, we review three amazing submissions from the superstars of ONE: CENTURY.
Demetrious Johnson Squeezes Out The Victory Against Yuya Wakamatsu
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson had a tough debut in March against Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu at ONE: A NEW ERA.
Slippery and quick on his feet, Wakamatsu caused problems for Johnson in the first round. He even tagged the all-time flyweight great a couple of times for good measure.
Nonetheless, “Mighty Mouse” flexed his wrestling strength and got to work in the second round.
As Wakamatsu tried to escape Johnson’s rear-naked choke, Wakamatsu gave up side control to the AMC Pankration representative.
Johnson proceeded to secure a head lock, drove some knees in, and forced the tap with a tight guillotine choke to claim his first victory in ONE Championship.
At ONE: CENTURY, the legend will take on Filipino sensation Danny “The King” Kingad in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.
Shinya Aoki Puts Eduard Folayang To Sleep With Triangle Choke
Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki and Eduard “Landslide” Folayang are icons in their respective countries.
In their match-up in 2016, Folayang defeated Aoki to claim the ONE Lightweight World Title.
But at ONE: A NEW ERA, the Japanese star seized the opportunity to return the favor to his Filipino nemesis. He put on a dominant performance in front of his compatriots and regained the ONE Lightweight World Championship.
After a quick back-and-forth in the opening minutes, Aoki pushed “Landslide” to the fence and brought him down to the canvas.
Once there, “Tobikan Judan” locked in a tight triangle and slept the defending World Champion after just 154 seconds.
Aoki faces Folayang’s Team Lakay teammate, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, in a lightweight clash at ONE: CENTURY PART II.
Angela Lee Defies Odds To Win Big Against Istela Nunes
Even after battling pneumonia that left her in the hospital just weeks prior, Lee looked every bit as unstoppable as her namesake suggested.
She attacked Nunes early, secured a front headlock, and tripped the Brazilian to the mat. “Unstoppable” locked in a tight anaconda choke and went home with a dominant second-round submission victory.
Lee will want to repeat this dominant performance when she defends her ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title against strawweight queen “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan at ONE: CENTURY PART I.
