Christian “The Warrior” Lee is not one to back down from a challenge, and he just proved that point once again.

The ONE Lightweight World Champion steps up to face Saygid “Dagi” Guseyn Arslanaliev in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Final at ONE: CENTURY PART I on Sunday, 13 October in Tokyo, Japan.

Lee is a late replacement for four-time Lightweight World Champion Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez, who withdrew from the tournament because of an injury.

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong broke the news on Facebook and praised Lee for his willingness to step up on short notice.

“Eddie Alvarez has pulled out of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix due to injury. ONE Superstar Eduard Folayang had agreed to step up, but visa issues made it impossible,” Sityodtong said.

“Luckily, ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian Lee has agreed to step into the finals of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix to face Saygid ‘Dagi’ Arslanaliev on October 13 in Tokyo at ONE: CENTURY!”

Now just two weeks away from the promotion’s historic 100th event, the clash between the Singaporean superstar and the Turkish phenom will be the perfect match-up in place of the originally scheduled bout.

Lee, a former featherweight competitor, claimed his first World Championship after an impressive second-round TKO of Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki in May.

In that match, the Singaporean moved up to lightweight and overcame the submission skills of the Japanese legend to become the youngest ONE World Champion in history.

Lee boasts a 100 percent finishing rate, which includes eight wins by knockout and four wins by submission.

But Arslanaliev is also a fearsome finisher, with six KOs and a pair of submission finishes to his name.

“Dagi” made his way into the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semifinals with a 25-second demolition of Ev “E.T” Ting in February.

The Turkish powerhouse followed that up with a dominant first-round TKO of Singapore’s Amir Khan just three months later in May.

Both competitors are the type to leave it all in the ring, so fans can expect an explosive finale in Tokyo, Japan.

ONE: CENTURY PART I will also feature Christian’s sister “Unstoppable” Angela Lee in the main event.

She defends her ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title in a rematch against the strawweight queen, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan.

Catch the Singaporean siblings in action at ONE: CENTURY, the biggest World Championship martial arts event in history. No organization has ever promoted two full-scale World Championship events in one day.

But The Home Of Martial Arts breaks new ground as it features 28 World Champions, four World Title bouts, three World Grand Prix Championship Finals, and four World Champion versus World Champion matches.

The action happens at the famous Ryogoku Kokugikan on 13 October in Tokyo, Japan.

Watch ONE: CENTURY PART I in Singapore on 13 October at 8am SGT and PART II at 4pm SGT or download the ONE Super App to catch all the action.
