After months of speculation, Brave Combat Federation announced today that Ottman Azaitar will battle Alejandro “Pato” Martínez for the promotion’s first-ever Lightweight title. The bout will headline Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions set for the Khalifa Sports City Arena, in Bahrain, on November 17th. Azaitar shared the news himself during a Live Chat on Brave’s official Facebook page. The previously announced Elias Boudegzdame x Lucas “Mineiro” Martins Featherweight title fight will serve as the co-main event.
The German-Moroccan will fight for the third time under Brave and will look to add a world title to his already two impressive wins. Azaitar first fought for the promotion at Brave 2: Dynasty, beating Argentina’s Kevin Koldobsky by unanimous decision. Then, the unbeaten Lightweight star knocked out Charlie Leary in one of Brave’s most exciting fights to date. He comes in against “Pato” with a clean 9-0 MMA professional record.
“Hello to all my fans gathering here today for this Facebook Live at Brave’s official page, I have a very important announcement to make: I’ll be back to the Brave cage on November 17 for Brave 9 main event. My opponent is the Mexican Alejandro “Pato” Martinez and the fight will be for the inaugural Lightweight title. I count on all of you for support”, said Azaitar during the Live Chat.
Speaking of his opponent’s credentials, “Bulldozer” admitted he hadn’t yet started to study Martínez’s game but he knows the Mexican has power in his hands.
“I don’t know much about my opponent. To be honest, I haven’t even studied him yet. I know he’s tough and a striker but that’s it. I trust on my potential and I know I’m gonna beat him”, claimed the German-Moroccan.
Alejandro “Pato” Martínez is also 2-0 with the organization, having made his debut at Brave 5: Go For Glory, in India, beating experienced Brazilian Paulo “Bananada” da Silva by TKO. He followed that with a submission victory over rival Fabián Quintanar in the main event of Brave 7: Untamed, in Mexico.
Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions marks the promotion’s return to Bahrain after a year. During 2017, Brave Combat Federation expanded its operations, putting on groundbreaking shows in countries such as Brazil (twice), Mexico, Kazakhstan, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Brave 9 will be the culmination of the International Combat Week alongside the IMMAF World Championships, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
